Job summary

Texas Health Mansfield is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform breast imaging and biopsy coordination. You will ensure high-quality images, patient safety, and teamwork with radiologists and the breast imaging staff.

The role begins as part-time, 24 hours/week, 7am–7pm, Thursdays and Fridays with occasional Saturdays. It will move to full-time 36 hours/week in Fall 2026, with pay range listed and benefits starting Day One.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years' experience in Mammography.
  • 1+ years' experience performing stereotactic core biopsies.
  • 1+ years' experience performing breast needle localizations.
  • Knowledge of MQSA and ACR regulations.
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors.
  • Ability to work with radiologists and breast imaging staff.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in patient tracking and recalls in departmental workflows.
  • Maintains accurate EMR/PACS documentation.
  • Performs high-quality mammography exams per orders and protocols.
  • Keeps exam rooms clean, stocked, and equipment safe.
  • Supports breast center accreditation and quality initiatives.
  • Follows patient identification, consent, and time-out procedures.
  • Verifies MQSA/ACR guidelines and performs QC as required.
  • Positions patients and adjusts compression for optimal images.
  • Communicates results or next steps with radiologists.
  • Ensures patient safety, comfort and clear explanations.

Job Description

Part Time, 24 hours week

7am-7pm

Thursdays & Fridays, occasional Saturdays

Position will move to Full Time, 36 hours/week in Fall 2026

  • Participates in patient tracking and follow-up processes, assisting with recalls, additional imaging coordination, and biopsy scheduling as required by departmental workflows.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
  • Performs high-quality examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.
  • Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
  • Supports breast center initiatives, such as accreditation preparation, community screening events, or quality improvement activities.
  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.
  • Follows all MQSA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, including quality control testing, equipment performance checks, and documentation requirements.
  • Positions patients and operates mammography equipment to obtain optimal images, adjusting technical factors and compression as needed.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and breast imaging team to ensure accurate imaging and timely communication of results or next steps.
  • Ensures patient identification, safety, and comfort, explaining procedures clearly and addressing questions or concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of Mammography procedures and positions [Required]
  • Ability to determine appropriate technical factors [Required]
  • Knowledge of Mammography equipment and the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and American College of Radiography (ACR) regulations [Required]
  • Ability to review prior images/films and distinguish area of interest [Required]
  • Ability to perform needle localizations, stereotactic core biopsies, and seed implants [Required]
  • Ability to train other Mammography Technologists in special procedures [Required]
  • Ability to work well with radiologists, nursing and surgical staff [Required]
  • Ability to assist with ACR accreditation of special procedures equipment and evaluations [Required]
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and have good comprehension of conversational English [Required]
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]
  • Good organization skills [Preferred]
