Job description

Responsibilities

Operates specialized mammography, stereotactic biopsy, and bone densitometry equipment. Performs direct patient care and a variety of technical procedures to produce images for diagnosis of breast diseases and osteoporosis evaluation.

Position Responsibilities:

• Selects and modifies patient positioning; performs mammographic, stereotactic biopsy, breast pathology localizations, and bone density procedures.
• Provides patient education to mammography patients.
• Conducts mandatory quality control of radiographic equipment, screens, and processing in accordance with ACR, MQSA, and state regulations. Performs daily cleaning, documentation, and takes appropriate action. Maintains daily analysis of repeat/reject images.
• Assists radiologists with invasive procedures, documents procedures, and renders first aid if needed. Ensures report correlation of biopsy with pathology reports.
• Coordinates with the OR, scheduling, physicians, and staff for effective scheduling of invasive breast procedures.
• Keeps supplies stocked in mammography rooms and orders new supplies as needed.
• Assists in training new personnel and students.
• Ensures timely sending of reports to physicians and patients.

Qualifications

Education and Licensure:

• Associate’s Degree (preferred)
• Registered by ARRT in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M); must maintain current registration.
• Certified by the State of Texas – MRT.
• CPR/BLS certification through AHA.

Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year experience as a radiologic technologist.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Good dexterity and handwriting skills.
• Interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, physicians, visitors, and staff.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
