Job summary

Wilson Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a dedicated Mammography Technician to join our Radiology team in Wilson, NC. You will educate patients, prepare and administer contrast when needed, ensure safety standards, and optimize imaging quality to support accurate diagnoses.

Requirements include ARRT licensure, BLS, an Associate’s degree in Radiology or equivalent, and 1 year of imaging experience.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's Degree Preferred; Bachelor's Degree Preferred; Graduate of a Program Discipline in Radiology Required
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • License: ARRT & State Radiation Operator Certificate
  • Experience: 1 year experience preferred
  • Skills: Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and effective English communication

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications when ordered. Monitors patient condition and reports changes.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies; selects exposure factors and imaging parameters; ensures safety and quality control.
  • Implements safety standards and quality control; troubleshoots equipment malfunctions as needed.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging, analyzes results, and transmits reports; handles imaging quality issues and repeats procedures as required

How You'll Contribute

A Mammography Technician who excels in this role:

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

What We're Looking For

  • License: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); State Radiation Operator Certificate
  • Experience: 1 year experience preferred
  • Skills and Abilities: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
