Job summary

Wilson Medical Center is seeking a Mammography Technician to join our imaging team and provide high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography services. You will educate patients on procedures and ensure safety and accuracy throughout the imaging process.

The role emphasizes precise imaging, attention to patient comfort, and collaboration with radiologists to deliver timely results. Fulton-based schedule is full-time, days, and benefits are included.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiology preferred; program graduate required
  • BLS certification

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and orders; educate patients on procedures and exams.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media or medications within scope; monitor patient status.
  • Prepare equipment; set exposure factors and imaging parameters; perform QC and troubleshoot.
  • Position patient and perform imaging; analyze results and address image quality issues.
  • Enter and report scan results.

How you'll contribute

A Mammography Technician who excels in this role:

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.Educatepatientsregarding procedures, equipment andexamsto ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepareequipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeatingprocedures. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.

What we're looking for
  • Education: Associate's DegreePreferred;Bachelor's DegreePreferred; Graduate of a Program Discipline in Radiology Required
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • License: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); State Radiation Operator Certificate
  • Experience: 1 year experience preferred
  • Skills and Abilities: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
