Job summary

Lourdes Medical Center is seeking a Mammography Technician to play a vital role in patient care. Education of patients about procedures and exams, as well as monitoring clinical status, are key parts of the role.

The position includes interventional support, image acquisition, safety practices and adherence to MQSA regulations to ensure high-quality imaging and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Education and certifications as listed: WA State Radiation Operator; ARRT.
  • Includes ability to educate patients about procedures and manage exam settings.
  • Must follow MQSA regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports changes.
  • Assists physician with interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
  • Selects exposure factors and imaging parameters; implements safety standards and performs quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and reports issues as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with MQSA regulations and applicable accreditations.

How you'll contribute

A Mammography Technician who excels in this role:

  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • May assist physician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Participates in ensuring compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditations.

What we're looking for
  • Education: Associate's degree Preferred; Graduate of a Program in Discipline
  • Required License: WA State Radiation Operator; ARRT
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Hourly range: $38.8 - $58.87
