Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking a Breast Imaging Technologist to perform a variety of breast imaging procedures, including screening mammograms and diagnostic studies, with independent judgement and competency.

Responsibilities include assisting radiologists during stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies, assessing cases based on history, and ensuring radiation safety per state and federal standards. The role emphasizes staying current with evolving imaging techniques through ongoing education.

Qualifications

  • Certification in Radiologic Technology is required.
  • No experience required; prior radiology experience preferred.

  • Assists radiologist during stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies.
  • Reviews patient history to determine screening vs diagnostic status.
  • Maintains radiation safety and protection standards in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Keeps up to date with new procedures and changes by attending education sessions and reviewing materials.

Essential Functions
  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
  • Obtains optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation while performing screening mammograms and diagnostic breast imaging studies.
  • Assists radiologist during stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies.
  • Assess patients through review of previous studies and history to determine screening versus diagnostic patients.
  • Covers other functions in the department as deemed necessary.
  • Provides radiation protection in accordance with proper standards as set by State and Federal boards, uses proper shielding, collimation and technical factors that minimize radiation exposure without affecting quality of images.
  • Remains abreast of changes and new procedures by attending educational seminars or classes and reading job related material.
  • Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education - Certification program - Radiologic Technology
  • Experience - No experience required. Prior radiology experience preferred

  • SCRQSA certification (Required for team members working in South Carolina)
  • BLS
  • ARRT-Radiology and ARRT-Mammography Registered
