Job summary

Prisma Health’'s Mammography department at Oconee Memorial Hospital seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform breast imaging and support radiologists in screening and diagnostic procedures. The role emphasizes accurate imaging, patient safety, and teamwork within the Mammography unit.

Required certification in Radiologic Technology with ARRT-Mammo and ARRT-Radiology; BLS may be preferred. Day shift, on-site at Oconee Medical Campus with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Education - Certification program - Radiologic Technology.
• Experience - No experience required. Prior radiology experience preferred.
• In Lieu Of - grandfathered from minimum requirements pending regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Obtains optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation during screening and diagnostic studies.
• Assists radiologist during stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies.
• Assesses patients by history to determine screening vs diagnostic cases.
• Maintains radiation safety and uses shielding and proper factors to minimize exposure.

Job Summary

Performs a variety of breast imaging procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity and competency.

Essential Functions

• All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
• Obtains optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation while performing screening mammograms and diagnostic breast imaging studies.
• Assists radiologist during stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies.
• Assess patients through review of previous studies and history to determine screening versus diagnostic patients.
• Covers other functions in the department as deemed necessary.
• Provides radiation protection in accordance with proper standards as set by State and Federal boards, uses proper shielding, collimation and technical factors that minimize radiation exposure without affecting quality of images.
• Remains abreast of changes and new procedures by attending educational seminars or classes and reading job related material.
• Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
