Job summary

Prisma Health Mammography-POC seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform breast imaging procedures with independent judgment and competency. You will obtain optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation, screen and diagnostic workups, and collaborate with the team to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Qualifications

• Certification program in Radiologic Technology required.
• No experience is required; radiology experience preferred.
• SCRQSA certification, BLS, ARRT-Radiology and ARRT-Mammography registered.

Responsibilities

• Obtains optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation while performing screening and diagnostic imaging.
• Assists radiologist during stereotactic and ultrasound-guided biopsies.
• Assesses patients to determine screening versus diagnostic status.
• Maintains radiation protection per state and federal standards, minimizing exposure without compromising image quality.
• Keeps up to date with procedures through seminars and reading materials.
• Stays informed of organizational and departmental updates via email.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

• Obtains optimum quality breast images for radiologist interpretation while performing screening mammograms and diagnostic breast imaging studies.

• Assists radiologist during stereotactic and ultrasound guided biopsies.

• Assess patients through review of previous studies and history to determine screening versus diagnostic patients.

• Covers other functions in the department as deemed necessary.

• Provides radiation protection in accordance with proper standards as set by State and Federal boards, uses proper shielding, collimation and technical factors that minimize radiation exposure without affecting quality of images.

• Remains abreast of changes and new procedures by attending educational seminars or classes and reading job related material.

• Stays abreast of organizational, affiliate and departmental changes/updates by checking email on each shift.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.

Minimum Requirements

• Education - Certification program - Radiologic Technology

• Experience - No experience required. Prior radiology experience preferred
