Job summary

Ascension in Austin, TX, invites you to join Seton Medical Center-Austin as a Mammography Technologist in the Breast Health Services department. The role focuses on delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging, patient education, and coordinated care in a full-time day schedule.

You’ll work with an interdisciplinary team, follow radiation safety protocols, and use modern EHR and PACS systems to ensure precise imaging and documentation. A sign-on bonus is available.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.
• ARRT Radiologic Technologist (Radiology) credential required prior to hire.
• 40-hour mammography training completed within 3 months of hire.
• Texas Department of State Health Services requirements satisfied.
• ARRT Mammography credential preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging with proper patient positioning.
• Explain procedures and educate on the role of mammography in preventive care.
• Use EHR and PACS to maintain documentation and image quality.
• Uphold radiation safety and quality improvement guidelines.
• Submit high-resolution images and patient history into PACS/network.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging as a Mammography Technologist, ensuring precise patient positioning and technical parameter selection for accurate breast health screenings.


• Provide compassionate patient care by explaining clinical procedures and educating individuals on the vital role of mammography in preventive healthcare.


• Execute advanced medical imaging tasks using modern EHR systems to maintain clinical documentation, ensuring image quality meets strict diagnostic standards.


• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to uphold radiation safety protocols and quality improvement guidelines for optimal patient and staff safety.


• Manage mammography equipment performance and facilitate seamless care coordination by submitting high-resolution images and patient history into the PACS network.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.


• Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiology credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.




• Requires completion of a federally approved 40 hour mammography training course within 3 Months (90 days) of hire and completion of 25 supervised mammography studies to meet Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) requirements.




• Radiologic Technologist specializing in General Practice credentialed from the Texas Medical Radiologic Technologist Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.


• Radiologic Technologist specializing in Mammography credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
