Job summary

MercyOne Health System is hiring a Mammographer. The role involves performing mammography, stereotactic biopsy, and bone densitometry (if qualified) in a comprehensive radiology setting.

You will collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians, coordinate procedures, and ensure patient consent and documentation are complete. We seek candidates with ARRT registry, active radiology licensure, and a willingness to obtain mammography credentials.

Qualifications

• Maintains current & active ARRT registry status.
• Maintains current state of employment Permit to Practice Radiology Technologist License.
• Willingness to obtain certification in mammography, stereotactic biopsy, and bone densitometry.
• Proof of BLS status per employer policy.

Responsibilities

• Completes all procedures as described in policy, including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, bone density (if qualified), and diagnostic radiography.
• Assists in coordination of procedures with radiologist and referring physician.
• Performs consent process with patients and ensures documents are completed before exam.
• Identifies and safely transports patients; IDs and QC images and sends to PACS.
• Manages film and image handling in PACS and completes RIS functions.
• Instructs student technologists and peers as required.
• Monitors safety and uses safe radiation practices.
• Participates in continuing education to enhance performance.
• Aids in quality assurance procedures and maintains records.

What you will do

• Completes all procedures as described in the policy and procedure manual; including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, bone density (if qualified) and diagnostic radiography.
• Assists in the coordination of procedures with the radiologist and referring physician.
• Competently participates in procedures with the radiologist.
• Performs consent process with appropriate patients, ensures all documents are completed before initiation of exam.
• Identifies and safely transports patients to and from the department. Properly IDs and QCs images and sends images to PACS.
• Assumes responsibility for film and image management in PACS and completes accurately related Radiology Information System (RIS) functions.
• Instructs student technologists and peers as required.
• Monitors area for safety and uses safe radiation practices
• Participates in continuing education that enhances job performance.
• Assists with quality assurance procedures and maintains all records

Schedule

• 40 hours a week
• Varied daytime shifts, all 8 hrs. Varied start times (700-1530, 730-1630, or 800-700)
• Monday-Friday. No weekends, holidays, or call.

General Requirements

• Maintains current & active ARRT registry status
• Maintains current state of employment Permit to Practice Radiology Technologist License
• Must be willing to obtain certification in mammography, stereotactic biopsy, and bone densitometry
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within six (6) months of hire & renew every 5 years
• Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status
