Job summary

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform high-quality imaging with precision and compassion in a hospital setting. You will operate equipment, position patients, educate patients, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance daily.

The role requires current mammography certification (RTR, RMT), CPR within 14 days, and a TX radiography license, with preferred Associate’s degree. You’ll collaborate with radiologists and support invasive breast procedures.

Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a radiologic technologist.
  • TX Medical Radiography license.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) within 14 days.
  • Registered Technologist Radiography (RTR).
  • Registered Technologist Mammography (RMT).
  • Associate's degree (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Selects and modifies patient positioning and performs mammography, stereotactic biopsy, breast pathology localizations and bone density procedures.
  • Educates patients undergoing mammography.
  • Conducts mandatory quality control of radiographic equipment, screens and processing per ACR, MQSA and state regulations; documents actions and performs daily cleaning.
  • Assists radiologist with invasive procedures; documents procedures and correlates biopsy with pathology reports.
  • Coordinates with OR, scheduling, physicians and staff for invasive breast procedures.
  • Maintains par levels of supplies in mammography rooms and orders new supplies as needed.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Mammography Technologist, you will be vital in early breast cancer detection, performing high-quality mammographic imaging with precision and compassion. Every day, you will expertly operate equipment, meticulously position patients, ensure comfort, perform quality control, and maintain accurate records. You will collaborate with radiologists and adhere to safety and regulatory standards for comprehensive breast health.

To be successful in this role, you will possess current mammography certification, exceptional technical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a compassionate demeanor, ensuring accurate diagnostics and positive patient experiences.

  • Selects and modifies positioning of patients and performs mammographic, stereotactic biopsy, breast pathology localizations and bone density procedures.
  • Performs patient education with mammography patients.
  • Performs mandatory quality control of radiographic equipment, screens and processing for strict ACR, MQSA and state regulations. Performs daily cleaning of equipment and all necessary information is documented and takes appropriate action. Repeat/reject image analysis is maintained on a daily basis.
  • Directly assists the radiologist with all invasive procedures, documents procedures and renders first aid to patient if needed. Maintains report correlation of biopsy with pathology reports.
  • Coordinates with the O.R., central scheduling, physicians or office staff for effective scheduling of the invasive breast procedures.
  • Keeps a par level of supplies stocked and available in the mammography rooms. Orders new supplies as needed.
