Job summary

George Mason University’s Mason Innovation Exchange (MIX) is seeking a proactive MIX Program Coordinator to join our team. This part-time, on-site role supports the MIX Senior Director and coordinates the MIX Makerspace, Media Lab, and Entrepreneurship Incubator across GMU campuses in Fairfax, Arlington, and Manassas.

The successful candidate will supervise student staff, manage schedules, ensure equipment is maintained, and assist with high-level programming and outreach initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, education, business, or a related field.
• Proficiency with social media and marketing.
• Experience in event coordination and scheduling.
• Proficiency with Makerspace equipment: 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, welding, electronics tools, media production tools, sewing & textiles.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Experience managing and supervising student staff or interns.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and scheduling platforms (e.g., 25Live).

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute innovation-focused events, workshops, competitions, and community engagement activities.
• Coordinate room reservations, scheduling, event staffing, and operational logistics.
• Coordinate conference room scheduling and incubator space utilization; track participation and outcomes.
• Provide administrative support for MIX programs and incubator activities with logistics and participant engagement.
• Oversee student staff activities, scheduling, training, and performance documentation.
• Maintain communications with MIX staff, partners, and internal departments.
