Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc. in Colorado seeks a Staff Engineer to join the team and contribute to the design and construction of utility-scale renewable and dispatchable generation projects.

The selected candidate will collaborate with the EPC contractor, equipment suppliers, Operations, and Company engineers to achieve top-quartile facility performance. On-site work is required at least three days per week during commissioning, with a hybrid work arrangement thereafter.

• Strong communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

• Applies technical standards, principles, theories, concepts to complex features and design challenges.
• Supports development of technical documentation including designs, calculations, and reports.
• Provides ongoing technical support for project activities across Operations, Maintenance, testing/diagnostics and Regulatory.
• May lead small-medium non-critical projects and coordinate larger portions of critical projects.
• Assists with bid/evaluation processes including preparation of bid documents and technical evaluations.
• Inter-organizational and outside customer communications on matters of varying complexity.
