Job summary

Seattle Humane in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Philanthropy Officer to secure significant philanthropic support through major and planned gifts. You will manage a portfolio of about 130 prospects and donors and cultivate relationships that advance Seattle Humane's mission.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Development, you will lead donor engagements, solicit gifts of $10,000 and above, collaborate with volunteers and staff, and help meet annual revenue goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 5+ years of fundraising experience, with a focus on major gifts.
• Proven track record of securing gifts of $10,000+ and managing a portfolio.
• Knowledge of planned giving principles and gift planning vehicles.
• Experience managing and motivating volunteers, including board members.
• Working knowledge of annual giving, direct mail, digital fundraising, and planned giving.
• Ability to travel regionally and work occasional evenings/weekends (<10%) with valid Washington state driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in CRM systems (Raiser’s Edge) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Portfolio management of major and planned gift donors.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts through face-to-face meetings, calls, and proposals.
• Collaborate with leadership and volunteers to identify prospects and craft strategies.
• Meet or exceed annual revenue targets and activity metrics.
• Represent Seattle Humane at donor functions, receptions, webinars, and community events.
• Develop revenue goals and track fundraising performance.
