Job description

Major Gifts Officer (2 positions)

(Hybrid)

Join a team of dedicated professionals at a dynamic time in the immigration reform movement at the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the largest immigration reform group that advocates for BORDER ENFORCEMENT and BORDER CONTROLS.

Major Responsibilities

  • Perform prospect research for new donors who have been identified as having high giving potential using wealth screening software.
  • Establish individualized cultivation plans (moves management) for new major donor prospects to help prospects reach their philanthropic goals and develop a long-term relationship with our organization.
  • Manage annual grant cycle and assist in the drafting and submitting of grant proposals and acknowledgments.
  • Keep major/prospective donor profiles up-to-date in fundraising CRM with correspondence records and accurate wealth screening data.
  • Work with other fundraising leads within the department to align efforts and set goals; track and report progress using specific metrics.
  • Learn to make direct, face-to-face solicitations and assist the board and other staff with their solicitations (e.g., provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications).

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of fundraising/grassroots or other related experience - required
  • A strong portfolio of success by showing past achievements, projects, and positive relationships with external stakeholders - required
  • Enjoys intellectual challenges and has a robust commitment to learning.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, grant writing a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with prospect research, CRM database, and wealth screening software.
  • Ability to set goals, track progress, and provide consistent reports to leadership.

This position is at FAIR’s headquarters in Washington, DC. It is full-time, exempt, and offers generous benefits, including an annual salary of $100,000.00 - $125,000, depending on experience.
