Job Overview:
Maitre'D is responsible for the overall performance of the entire restaurant to include guest service, staff performance and labor controls. This role oversees the overall duties of the staff and assures that the execution of these duties reflects the highest standards possible. The Maitre'D must communicate with guests on a consistent basis to gain feedback about their experience and to cater to their needs, whatever they may be. They set the tone for the total guest experience from arrival to that tire. They ensure, at all times, a high standard of appearance, hospitality and the service of all personnel, as well as the cleanliness and appearance of the facility. The Maitre'D must complete all duties, including knowledge of POS system all revenues incurred in the restaurant.
- Enforces plans room set-up based upon anticipated guest counts and client needs.
- Ensure scheduled personnel according to expected revenues and guest counts, and maintains all changes to that schedule.
- Completes all budget variance reports on time and in proper format.
- Reviews all budgeted line items in the restaurant.
- Manages Host Stand to take reservations and checks table reservation schedules to staff accordingly.
- Greets every guest and maintains communication with every guest when appropriate.
- Carefully supervises to help assure proper service and sets an example when restaurant staff is in need of assistance.
- Inspects restaurant associates to ensure that they are in proper and clean uniforms at all times and that their personal appearance adheres to Company standards.
- In charge of printing and examining menus on a daily basis to ensure quality and accuracy and assuring that all changes are made to the POS system for daily and special holiday menus.
- Maintains changes and everyday use of “Open Table”, our online reservation system regarding hours of operation, holiday and special events, closures, etc.
- Conveys all changes in hours of operation, holiday and special events, closures, etc to appropriate staff.
- Inquires Staffing needs to Managers for special events or holidays.
- Provides appropriate reports concerning employee hours, schedules.
- Ensures all associates are provided with legally required meal and rest periods during their shifts. This includes, but is not limited to, creating and enforcing a coverage schedule for associates during their breaks.
- Receives and handles complaints concerning food, beverages and service, whether it is an immediate problem or a situation regarding a follow-up complaint.
- Serves as liaison between the restaurant and kitchen staff.
- Assures that all side work is accomplished and cleaning of all equipment and storage areas is completed according to schedule.
- Directs pre-shift meetings with restaurant personnel, replaying information, training and policy changes.
- Assures the correct appearance, cleanliness and proper set-up of the restaurant.
- Checks the maintenance of all equipment in the restaurant and reports deficiencies.
- Assists with Special Facility Events.
- Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
- Consistently displays positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team.
- Maintains flexibility to take on new and different tasks.
