Job summary

Corner Table Restaurants’ The Smith in New York seeks a polished Maitre D to greet guests, manage reservations, and guide the dining room with confidence. You will set the tone for a welcoming dining experience and collaborate with the service team to ensure smooth flow.

With at least 2 years in a high-volume, full-service setting and a lead-host background, you lead seating, communicate with leadership, and help maintain an exceptional guest experience from arrival to departure.

• 2 years of experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
• Prior experience as a lead host, maître d’.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a polished, professional, and welcoming first impression.
• Manage waitlists and reservations to ensure accurate quoting and guest expectations.
• Optimize table assignments based on pacing, server sections, and turn times.
• Communicate real-time door management updates to restaurant leadership.
• Assist in the daily operations of the dining room, including seating arrangements, reservations, and table turnover.
• Monitor and manage table rotations to optimize seating capacity and minimize wait times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
