Job summary

Chatham County, GA Government is seeking a Maintenance Worker IV with a trade-school background and four years of general construction experience. The role requires a valid Class B CDL and the ability to respond on an on-call basis, including nights, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Trade School training in a skilled trade.
• At least four years of general construction experience.
• Equivalent training/experience accepted.
• Valid Class B CDL required.
• Hazardous Materials endorsement within six months of hire.
• Must lift up to 50 lbs and wear steel-toe footwear.
• On-call duties during off-hours, holidays and weekends.
• Respond using personal transportation.
• Ability to follow and instruct others.

Examples of duties

Under general direction, you

• Perform skilled and complex journeyperson level maintenance and repair in a variety of trades, including carpentry, storm drain, concrete, and asphalt.
• Drive County vehicles, perform preventative maintenance, and supervise a small crew.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• This role is on Critical Workforce Category 2, and you must be able to be on call on a 24-hour basis.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, and
• Trade School training in a skilled trade, and
• At least four (4) years of general construction work experience in one or more skilled crafts; or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License at time of application.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Hazardous Material endorsement within six months of hire.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
• Must provide and wear approved steel toe protective footwear during normal working hours.
• Must be available for on-call duty during non-working hours, holidays, and weekends, and must use personal transportation to respond.
• Must possess the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must possess the ability to instruct others.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in multiple skill​ed crafts.
