The City of Desert Hot Springs is seeking a Maintenance Worker for its Public Works department. Under supervision, you will learn and perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance, construction, and repair of city buildings, facilities, and equipment.
Responsibilities include preparing surfaces for paving, operating tools and light machinery, maintaining parks and grounds, and assisting in emergency/disaster response.
Under general supervision of the Public Works Director, learns to perform and performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks involved in the maintenance, limited construction, or repair of City buildings, facilities, and equipment; performs other related duties as required.

High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND five years' work experience demonstrating progressive responsibilities for specialized tools, equipment and documentation; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Physical Demands and Working Environment: Work is performed indoors and outdoors at work sites throughout the City; required to perform skilled technical repair and maintenance work, and lift and carry up to 100 pounds. Must be able to work extended hours, weekdays, and holidays as needed, and respond to emergency callouts. May be required to travel to various sites, locations and/or events. Team members are required to be in attendance and prepared to begin work at their assigned work location on the specified days and hours; team members are required to assume duties of a disaster worker in the event of a locally declared emergency.
