Job summary

San Diego Community College District is seeking a Maintenance Worker / HVAC Electrical to support Facilities & Operations across the District. You will maintain and repair HVAC and electrical systems, read blueprints, and keep logs to ensure safe, efficient campus operations.

Ideal candidates have EPA refrigerant handling certification and at least three years in maintenance trades, including HVAC or electrical repair, with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
  • At least three years of experience in building construction or maintenance trades, with at least one year of apprentice-level HVAC or electrical repair experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, refrigeration, electrical systems, energy management controls, and safe work practices.
  • Skill in using tools, methods and equipment to maintain, test, troubleshoot and repair HVAC and electrical systems, working independently with little direction.
  • Ability to read sketches, drawings, blueprints and to maintain logs, reports and records.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Maintenance Worker / HVAC Electrical

Location: District

Pay Information: Range 26 ($5,431.85 – $7,489.87) per month based on the current Classified salary schedule.
Employment Type: 12 months, 1.0 FTE, Classified, FLSA Non‑Exempt (accrues overtime).

Overview

Join Our Facilities & Operations Team at SDCCD. We support everything from custodial and landscape work to maintenance and work-order management across the District. You will help keep modern, vibrant college campuses running smoothly and contribute to sustainable operations.

Hours

Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Adjustable as needed).

Conditions of Employment
  • Submit official college transcripts as stated on application.
  • Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment.
  • Undergo Live Scan fingerprinting; clearance must be received before first day of employment.
  • Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States (I‑9).
  • Attend a new‑hire processing appointment.
