Golf Course Maintenance Worker

The City of Winston-Salem, NC is seeking a Golf Course Maintenance Worker to perform intermediate semiskilled work maintaining the golf course and clubhouse, under the moderate supervision of the Golf Course Supervisor.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain rough, greens, and fairways; mow the course; remove debris from the course and cart paths.
2. Change pin placement holes on greens.
3. Rake sand traps using motorized equipment.
4. Maintain ball washers and tee boxes; paint as needed.
5. Spread grass seeds as needed.
6. Maintain the interior of the clubhouse during cold weather; lay out protective tarps over greens; remove trees and stumps when the course is empty due to weather.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in landscaping, golf course maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of industry practices, policies, and procedures; knowledge of equipment and methods for maintaining golf course greens, fairways, and roughs; ability to work outdoors year-round; ability to develop effective working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and the public.

Physical Requirements

Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; work involves sitting, standing, reaching, walking, handling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motions; requires good vision, communication skills, and the ability to operate machinery and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
