This is a Full-time, non-exempt position located at our Redding, CA location, Yates Gear.
Summary:
The Facilities Tech will focus on Sewing machine troubleshooting and preventative maintenance including emergency repairs. Will also manage critical spares in conjunction with historical usage and replacement part lead time and obsoletion. Manage the electronic PM calendar and shop floor notifications for “take down” planning & procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Complete “Sewing Mechanic Fundamentals” course in Mouldin, South Carolina within 90 days of joining Yates (VSG) in Redding, Ca.
- Order and manage critical spares and maintain inventory, utilizing parts forecasting in accordance to historical usage and current Shop Floor needs.
- Manage preventative maintenance electronic calendar and communicate any delays with Site Manager including any delays and disruptions to the Shop Floor.
- Maintain the machine shop in an orderly organized fashion including tooling, shelving, and critical spares parts inventory.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace any associated parts on all Shop Floor sewing machines.
- Prepare and present reports and insights to management, highlighting key findings and recommendations to drive informed decision-making for improved Shop Floor “up-time”.
- Stay updated on Sewing industry, global trends and onboarding new equipment.
- Identify potential risks in machine “take downs” and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions to the Shop Floor.
- Works effectively with Production leads to establish preventative maintenance schedule, serving as primary point of contact for machine maintenance scheduling issues.
- Follows all VSG policies and procedures. Will observe safety rules and regulations while working on any machinery. Reports any unsafe conditions immediately to the Management team.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical knowledge of industrial sewing machines and repairs.
- Experience maintaining and fixing machinery associated with production facilities.
- Patient and detail oriented with good work ethic and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
- A proactive approach to problem-solving to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement solutions to optimize unplanned downtime and machine troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across multiple departments and stakeholders
- Willingness to travel to Mouldin, South Carolina for formal Sewing machine training within 90 days of hiring.
- The ability to communicate, read and write in English language is required.
- The successful candidate will have mechanical and maintenance abilities.
- Must be able to perform efficiently and effectively to meet close deadlines.
