Veterans' preference does not apply to DHA recruitment Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below for more information. The primary purpose of this position is to perform various trades and crafts involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC duties in the maintenance of facilities.
Major Duties
- Maintains and repairs installed electrical systems such as lighting fixtures and wiring, power fixtures and wiring, power sources, alarm systems, and/or services battery packs for emergency power systems. Following specific information, locates and makes repairs to plumbing that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing, and sealing defective parts of utility, supply, and disposal systems, such, as dirty traps, sections of broken tile or pipe, and leaky drains using existing routes, openings, hangers, and levels. Performs minor construction and repair on existing structures involving standard measurements, specifications, instructions, and basic shop mathematics. Performs routine preventive maintenance on heating systems and refrigeration and air conditioning units. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Uses and maintains a wide variety of hand and power tools associated with the carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing trades.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4700 General Maintenance and Operations work family located here. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
