Job summary

Job description

This position is responsible for repairs and facility preventative maintenance. The core position performs a variety of maintenance duties including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and grounds keeping and any related tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Performs minor fixes, repairs, preventative maintenance and renovations. Areas of responsibility include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and HVAC
  • Maintains grounds, including mowing and yard upkeep
  • Clears snow from parking lots, entrances and walkways
  • Conducts and documents routine inspections of premises and equipment
  • Handles basic repairs, maintenance and renovations. Areas of responsibility include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and HVAC
  • Oversees contractors when necessary
  • Diagnoses mechanical issues and corrects them
  • Repairs machines, equipment, and structures as necessary
  • Picks up and delivers supplies and materials as needed
  • Adheres to all relevant policies and procedures of the organization
  • Performs and documents scheduled inspections of the entire facility
  • Reports to maintenance manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience or knowledge, skills, and ability equivalent; Any other combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired skills, knowledge or abilities may be considered
  • Experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position preferred
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools
  • Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts
  • Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary
  • Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches
  • Physically able to push equipment used in the maintenance department
  • Physically able to reach, stretch, bend, and walk during daily routine, with the ability to stand for long lengths of time
  • Previous experience working in related field preferred; training will be provided
Certifications and License
  • Valid driver’s license and appropriate liability insurance. Positions in this classification may be required to travel and work at multiple sites on a regular basis
  • EPA Universal Technician (40 CFR 82 Subpart F (HVAC) certification preferred
  • First Aid / CPR / AED certification completed within probationary period and maintained throughout employment
