Qualifications

  • Must have strong working knowledge of repair methods, materials, tools and general maintenance practices.
  • Experience with carpentry, electrical, plumbing, cement work, sanitation and janitorial tasks preferred.
  • Ability to read, speak, and understand English proficiently and work with basic software.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the facilities maintenance schedule for daily and periodic tasks.
  • Record and report completed repairs and needed follow-ups.
  • Maintain and repair campus facilities, equipment, and outdoor areas.
  • Clean and maintain parking areas, sidewalks, and walkways.
  • Maintain irrigation systems and inventory supplies.
  • Assist with setup for campus events and meetings.
  • Inspect campus with leadership to identify safety actions.
  • Assist pastor, principal, and staff with parish and school needs.
  • Communicate with staff and vendors as required.

Supervised by: Academy Principal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Employment type: Full Time, 35 hours, Mon-Fri, 7 hours per day, occasional weekend hours

Salary: $17 - $20 per hour, based on experience

Position Summary

The Maintenance Worker provides adequate maintenance and preventative maintenance on all equipment, buildings, and grounds to ensure safety to all persons, including staff and visitors, and to extend the life and appearance of these items.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Follow the facilities maintenance schedule to guide daily and periodic maintenance tasks.
  • Record and report completed repairs and items that require further attention.
  • Work on repairs/maintenance to all campus facilities, equipment, and outdoor areas.
  • Clean and maintain parking areas, sidewalks, and walkways.
  • Maintain and adjust irrigation systems.
  • Keep accurate inventory and replenish supplies in church, hall, campus restrooms (dispensers, soap), school and preschool classrooms and ensure facilities are clean and functional.
  • Set-up/clean-up campus events. Includes setting up chairs and tables.
  • Routinely inspect campus with principal and facilities supervisor to identify corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide assistance to the pastor, principal, and staff as needed for parish, school, and preschool needs.
  • Communicates with pastor, principal, facilities supervisor, office managers, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of repair methods, materials, tools, and general practices used in maintenance such as but not limited to carpentry, electrical work, cement work, plumbing, sanitation, locksmith, janitorial care.
  • Must have knowledge of procedures, practices, tools, and equipment used in maintenance.
  • Must have knowledge and use of power equipment and hand tools to complete some tasks.
  • Must be able to be self-sufficient and perform outlined tasks with little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand English proficiently.
  • Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have the ability to work with other staff members.
  • Must be able to make judgment calls related to emergency and safety matters.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and climb ladders.
  • Must be able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must complete and clear a background check.
  • Must successfully complete Safe Environment Curriculum and CA Sexual Harassment Training.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must have the ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Occasional weekend hours of work may be required.
Other Skills And Abilities
  • Prior electrical/plumbing/maintenance/custodial experience helpful.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to perform moderate to heavy manual labor including frequent bending, walking and lifting up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the pastoral center, as well as maneuver throughout the facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events.
