Diocese of Gaylord seeks a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician to care for parish buildings, grounds, and vehicles. Responsible for routine carpentry, plumbing, electrical tasks, and HVAC-related work, while ensuring safety and upkeep across property.

The role requires at least 3 years in a similar field, a valid driver's license with insurance, and the ability to perform physical tasks and multi-task on site. Work hours and occasional travel may apply.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar field with use of a variety of maintenance tools, equipment and procedures.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with valid car insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of facility and equipment maintenance duties.
  • Helps with installation, repairs, and renovations to buildings including electrical fixtures.
  • Installation, repair, and renovation of equipment including electrical appliances and HVAC systems.
  • Snow and ice removal from ramps, walkways, and parking areas.
  • Lawn and landscape duties.
  • Drywall and painting work.
  • Moving and transporting furniture and equipment.
  • Operates a variety of gas-powered equipment and maintains them.
  • Prioritizes and completes maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Maintains all equipment, vehicles, and tools used.
  • Maintains SDS sheets and Maintenance Log.
  • Carry out maintenance task as directed by the Parish Pastor

Job description

General Summary

This position provides adequate maintenance and preventative maintenance on all parish equipment, buildings, grounds, and vehicles to ensure the safety of all persons, including staff and visitors, and to extend the life and appearance of these items.

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of facility and equipment maintenance duties. May perform various routine maintenance and repairs including routine carpentry and plumbing duties based on skill level and experience.
  • Helps with a variety of installation, repairs, and renovations to buildings including but not limited to electrical fixtures and switches, and semi-skilled tasks in construction, repair and maintenance of wooden structures.
  • Installation, repair, and renovation of some equipment including electrical appliances, valves, hot water heaters, sinks, commodes, hand basins, kitchen appliances, and heating and cooling systems.
  • Snow and ice removal from ramps, walkways, and parking areas. (If needed after contracted snow removal.)
  • Lawn and landscape duties.
  • Drywall and painting work.
  • Moving and transporting furniture and equipment.
  • Operates a variety of gas-powered equipment; performs maintenance on the equipment mentioned.
  • Prioritizes and completes maintenance requests in a timely manner.
  • Is responsible for all the equipment, vehicles, and tools used.
  • Maintain SDS sheets.
  • Perform maintenance in accordance with Maintenance Check List
  • Maintain Maintenance Log.
  • Carry out maintenance task as directed by the Parish Pastor
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar field with use of a variety of maintenance tools, equipment and procedures desired.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with valid car insurance.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move and load equipment and supplies that weigh 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, stoop, squat, reach, and climb ladders.

Employee is expected to work at [parish] office, per schedule; occasional weekend work may be required. This position may require minimal travel. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.
