The City of La Crosse is accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Worker to join the Street Department team. The department handles street maintenance and repair, snow removal, and manages the refuse and recycling program. The selected individual will work with a dedicated team to improve the daily lives of La Crosse citizens.
This position primarily involves street maintenance, snow removal, and manual labor, including working on concrete and asphalt crews. The worker will operate various equipment such as trucks, snow removal machinery, and hand and power tools under supervision.
Applicants must pass a DOT-regulated drug and alcohol test. The starting wage is $23.37 per hour (80 hours bi-weekly).
Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, 1-2 years of light equipment operation experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Class B CDL with airbrake and tanker endorsements is required, or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment.

Essential Duties
Operate trucks, snow equipment, hand tools, assist with excavation, concrete work, street paving, fill potholes, erect barricades, and respond to emergencies as needed.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma, 1-2 years equipment experience, valid Class B CDL with endorsements or ability to obtain within 30 days.
Physical and Mental Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively, perform mathematical calculations, exercise judgment, operate complex equipment, and work under environmental hazards.
