Job summary

Community Counseling Center of Mercer County is looking for a Maintenance Worker responsible for maintaining agency buildings and vehicles. The role requires proficiency in minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing duties, along with custodial responsibilities. Ideal candidates will have at least two years of experience in maintenance and a high school diploma or equivalent. The job includes significant physical tasks, such as lifting 50 pounds. The Maintenance Worker will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Job description

POSITION: The Maintenance Worker can be a self-starter or work as a team player. He/she is responsible for quality maintenance and some custodial duties at agency buildings and vehicles. This person will be able to work alone and pace themselves to get job duties done in a timely manner. Must be able to trouble shoot and ascertain the importance of emergency situations versus everyday work needing done. Reports directly to Maintenance Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

A semi-skilled person who can maintain a group of buildings by performing minor electrical, mechanical or plumbing duties. Minimum experience of two years in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical or mechanical trades. Acceptable trades include Carpenter, Mason, Plasterer, Painter, Plumber, Steamfitter, Roofer, Welder, Electrician (buildings), Mechanic (machinist, plant operator). Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Routine maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment.
  • Opening blocked drains
  • Repairing leaky faucets
  • Replacing bulbs and switches, receptacles, and balusters
  • Replacing and repairing screens
  • Replacing broken windows and sashes
  • Making minor repairs to machinery
  • Mixing cement or plaster
  • Painting buildings, rooms, walls or other surfaces
  • Trimming and weeding flower beds and mulching shrub areas as needed
  • Planting flowers or mulching as needed
  • Cleaning and sweeping walkways
  • Power washing and cleaning outside of building as needed
  • Shoveling sidewalks or snow blowing
  • Winterizing buildings as needed by weather stripping, putting plastic on windows
  • Moving furniture
  • Inventory and order parts as needed for minor repair work
  • Changing filters in heating and air-cooling systems as required
  • Light construction work
  • Light mechanical duties
  • Custodial duties
  • Picking up trash outside in lawn area
  • Maintaining smoking containers
  • Operating and caring for vacuum sweepers, carpet cleaners, polishing machines or any other janitorial equipment
  • Delivering supplies
  • Inventory and order supplies needed for job duties
  • Setting up and taking down tables for events
  • Cleaning floors and carpets
  • Van maintenance
  • Deliver vans to be serviced
  • Check oil and tires monthly
  • Take vans through car wash when needed
  • In extreme emergency situations, may need to substitute as van driver
  • Replace brakes and rotors
  • Tire rotations
  • Oil changes, fluid levels maintained
  • Change of wipers and lights
  • Will be present for estimates of potential outside contracted work performed at CCC buildings and report to immediate supervisor or CFO
  • Availability in extreme emergency situations
  • Other job duties may be assigned
