Qualifications

• General maintenance across multiple trades including painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry and electrical work.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and to perform manual tasks.
• Spot-checks for accuracy and willingness to perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or compound.
• Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, toilets, and perform painting of structures and equipment.
• Hang doors and install door locks; replace broken windowpanes; perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Move and reposition office furniture and items up to 50 lbs as needed.

Job Summary/Description:

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Maintenance Trades Helperfor the facilities engineering program to support a federal Agency. The Maintenance Trades Helper will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment, tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken windowpanes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• The other days will encompass general maintenance on other projects as needed.
• The job also requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. of furniture to assist in moving office furniture, couches, chairs, conference room assemblies, and miscellaneous items.
• Work is spot-checked for accuracy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
