Job Summary

Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and general knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.


Responsibilities


  • Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors

  • Uses plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings

  • Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets

  • Paints structures and equipment

  • Repairs or replaces concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks

  • Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles

  • Hangs doors, installs door locks, and replaces broken windowpanes

  • Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery

Education and Experience


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least two years of related experience required

  • Experience working in an outdoor or indoor building environment

  • Experience hanging doors, installing door locks, and replacing broken windowpanes preferred

  • Ability to understand verbal or written direction from lead, supervisor, or other craftsmen


Physical Requirements


  • Prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands

  • Occasional exposure to load noise

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds at times

  • Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary

  • Ability to hear and see for positioning and safety requirements

  • Occasional exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals


Special Qualifications/Requirements

Must be able to successfully pass federal, state, or local government background investigation requirements.
