THRIVE in Watertown, NY seeks a Maintenance Technician to perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance across agency facilities, ensuring safe and functional environments for clients and staff.

You will troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems, complete preventive tasks, document work performed, and coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required, with preferred two years in building maintenance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years’ experience in general building construction or facility maintenance preferred.
  • Proficiency in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC maintenance.
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to perform custodial and seasonal tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance across facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC issues.
  • Complete preventive maintenance according to schedules.
  • Respond to work orders promptly; document work and materials used.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas; follow safety protocols.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for maintenance emergencies.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal and lawn care.
  • Coordinate with vendors for supplies.
  • Assist with facility inspections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Full-Time: Monday-Friday 6:30am-3pm, on call rotation

Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance tasks across agency facilities. This role supports safe, clean, and functional environments for clients and staff by addressing maintenance issues promptly and professionally under the direction of a Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct general maintenance and repairs, troubleshooting and fixing issues in plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, painting, and HVAC units as assigned, ensuring building functionality.
  • Complete preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules.
  • Respond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify and report safety hazards or facility concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized manner.
  • Follow all safety protocols, agency policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with facility inspections and seasonal maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with moving items as requested.
  • Accurately document completed work and materials used.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with vendors while purchasing supplies and materials.
  • Performs custodial duties as assigned.
  • Perform snow removal, lawn care and other seasonal work as directed.
  • Participates in in-service training as recommended.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for maintenance emergencies.
  • Provide on-call or emergency maintenance support as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or that may develop.
  • Management has the right to add or change the duties of this position at any time.

Education and/or Experience

Required: A High School Diploma or high school equivalency diploma.

Preferred: Post secondary trade or vocational school a plus. Two years’ experience in general building construction or building/facility maintenance. Proficient in one of the following areas: Electrical and mechanical aptitude; carpentry, painting, plumbing, building and property maintenance, Heating/AC, Appliance repair.

Required: Must maintain valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
