Job summary

Eastern Oklahoma County Technology Center is seeking a Maintenance Technician / Transportation to support facility upkeep and school-related transportation needs in Choctaw, OK. This 12-month role involves building and grounds maintenance, HVAC/electrical/plumbing tasks, and operating school vehicles as needed.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and assisting with special events. CDL with P and S endorsements preferred or obtainable within the first year.

Job Title: Maintenance Technician / Transportation

Reports To: Director ofOperations

Contract: 12-month

SUMMARY:Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the school facility including the general building maintenance, facility grounds, mechanical maintenance and repair, and utility systems. Provides transportation support as needed, including serving as a backup driver for school-related activities and transportation needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:include the following.Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitors and maintains all physical facilities on a planned basis to ensure a safe, clean, well-maintained appearance.
  • Assist in the service and repair of HVAC / refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Performs general maintenance and repairs, including landscaping, painting, roof repairs, carpet, flooring, ceiling tiles, and other facility related needs.
  • Opens and closes school buildings and activates and disarms security alarm systems as assigned.
  • Conducts a proper preventive maintenance program for buildings, equipment, and facility systems.
  • Responsible for the proper maintenance of all utility distribution systems; electrical, gas, plumbing, water, sewer and storm drains.
  • Assembles, cleans, dusts, and maintains furniture, tables, chairs, equipment and other facility furnishings.
  • Sweep sidewalks, entrances, and other exterior areas as needed.
  • Assist with preparing facilities for special events, meetings, and school activities.
  • Serves as backup transportation driver as needed.
  • Operates school vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED preferred; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements are preferred, or the ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
  • Language Skills:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate and present information.
  • Mathematical Skills:Ability to use and understand basic mathematical skills.
  • Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
