This position involves maintenance duties supporting department operations, including manufacturing, installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signs, installing thermoplastic markings, and establishing safe work zones. Responsibilities also include assisting in special events, removing materials from rights-of-way, performing preventative maintenance, attending training, and other duties as assigned.
Knowledge required includes techniques for installing and repairing traffic control devices, familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, and city policies. Skills include manufacturing and installing traffic signs, operating equipment such as hydraulic post pullers and truck-mounted cranes, performing mathematical calculations, and communicating effectively in writing and orally.
No prior experience is required; possession or ability to obtain a valid driver's license is necessary. After-hours work may be required during emergencies or weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The role requires frequent standing, walking, handling tools and equipment, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting over 100 pounds, and other physical activities. Successful candidates will pass a Functional Prework Screen.
SAFETY SENSITIVE: This position is safety-sensitive and subject to random drug testing, managed by an outside vendor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is outdoors, exposing employees to traffic, noise, dust, weather, and machinery with moving parts.
