The City of Bloomington, MN is offering a pathways program to a Utility Operator position within the Utilities Division. The program combines on-the-job experience with classroom instruction to meet testing qualifications for Minnesota Cl-D Water and CL-SD Wastewater licenses.

Once licensed, employees may advance to a Utility Operator role. Duties include operating and maintaining water/wastewater systems, installing meters, excavating for repairs, and using data tools.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform strenuous manual tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.

Responsabilités

• Operate, inspect and repair the wastewater collection system, including lift stations.
• Operate, inspect and repair the water distribution infrastructure.
• Install, read and repair residential and commercial meters as needed.
• Assist in excavation of water and sewer repairs, including set-ups for traffic control.
• Use city computer applications and data collection tools.
• Operate trucks and other equipment (non-CDL).
• Observe safety regulations and operate equipment safely.
• Perform groundskeeping and landscaping duties.
• Work with other Public Works Divisions as assigned, including snowplowing and maintenance.
