Job summary

University Partners seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our community team. You will perform work orders, grounds and common area upkeep, and maintain resident relations to ensure a safe, comfortable living environment.

Ideal candidates have knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and basic construction, plus a willingness to learn, strong customer service and communication skills, and the ability to work weekends or on-call shifts. Own tools are required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions and write basic correspondence.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Completing all routine service requests within 24 hours at the direction of Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensuring the clean condition of the community at all times.
  • Maintaining the maintenance shop according to policy.
  • Reporting maintenance issues to the Maintenance Supervisor and Community Manager for review.
  • Assisting in other tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Spot cleaning the model and vacant units on a daily basis.

Job Purpose

Maintenance Technicians perform a variety of responsibilities, including work orders, grounds and common area clean up and maintenance, and maintaining good resident relations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will include those specifically assigned by the employee's immediate supervisor.

  • Providing excellent service to residents, guests, employees and contractors
  • Completing all routine service requests within 24 hours at the direction of Maintenance Supervisor
  • Ensuring the clean condition of the community at all times
  • Maintaining the maintenance shop according to policy
  • Reporting maintenance issues to the Maintenance Supervisor and Community Manager for review

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Professional demeanor resulting from previous maintenance experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Certifications/ Licenses
  • Certified HVAC as required
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance
