Job summary

Apple Rehab Rocky Hill is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to maintain and repair the facility’s physical plant and its systems, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping. The role requires safe operation of power and hand tools and coordination with staff to minimize disruption.

Strong teamwork, dependability, and a positive attitude toward residents and colleagues are essential. A valid driver’s license and reliable driving record are also required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
• Ability to perform routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• The Maintenance Assistant demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs the facility’s physical plant and its various systems.
• Safely operates equipment, power and hand tools.
• Advises appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs to enable staff to provide alternative plans.
• Plans efficient use of time and cooperates with all staff.
• Inspects facility and reports to Maintenance Supervisor any needed repairs.
