Job summary

Apple Rehab Rocky Hill is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our 100-bed skilled nursing center near the Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill, CT.

This part-time role focuses on maintaining and repairing the facility’s systems, with an emphasis on teamwork, reliability, and a positive attitude toward residents and staff.

Experience in hospital or long-term care settings is preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Previous hospital or long-term care facility experience preferred.
• Experience with plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and grounds keeping tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive, resident-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the facility's physical plant and its systems.
• Safely operate equipment and tools to complete maintenance tasks.
• Notify maintenance supervisor of potential shut-downs for contingency planning.
• Plan efficient use of time to complete tasks promptly.
• Cooperate with staff to minimize disruption to operations.
• Inspect the facility regularly and report needed repairs.

Job Description

Are you a skilled individual with a knack for fixing things? Do you thrive in an environment where you can apply your expertise in maintaining and repairing various systems? We are currently seeking a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to join our team and ensure the smooth operation of our facility.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the facility's physical plant and its various systems, including plumbing, electrical, structural, and equipment.
• Safely operate equipment, power, and hand tools to carry out maintenance tasks effectively.
• Advise appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs, enabling the staff to provide alternate plans for the continuation of operations.
• Plan efficient use of time to complete tasks promptly and effectively.
• Cooperate with all other staff members to minimize disruption to the facility's operations.
• Inspect the facility regularly and report any needed repairs promptly to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
• Ability to perform, and working knowledge of, routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
• Valid drivers’ license and safe driving record.
• The Maintenance Assistant demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.
