Job summary

The Aspenwood Company in Houston, TX is seeking a compassionate Maintenance Assistant to support our independent living and memory care community. This full-time role emphasizes reliable upkeep, safety, and a friendly presence for residents.

You will handle routine tasks, coordinate with supervisors, and assist with repairs, painting, and general unit make-ready work. Weekend and holiday availability is required; a valid Texas driver’s license helps drive community vehicles as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of related experience.
• Experience with painting, drywall, and general unit make-ready tasks.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Valid Texas driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Complete all assigned maintenance work orders and prepare vacant resident rooms as directed by the Supervisor.
• Coordinate and assist with special projects as directed.
• Monitor work performed by outside contractors to ensure it meets company standards.
• Be available for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled, carrying a pager or cell phone for on-call duties.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, and ensuring all areas are tidy and functional.
• Install appliances and equipment as needed.
• Maintain the garden/yard, including mowing lawns and collecting trash.
