Job summary

The Aspenwood Company in Houston, TX is seeking a full-time Maintenance Assistant to support a senior living community. You will perform maintenance tasks, assist with projects, and respond to urgent repairs while upholding safety and cleanliness standards.

We require a High School Diploma or GED and 1–2 years of related experience, with basic HVAC/plumbing/electrical knowledge. Weekend/holiday availability is expected; pay is $20/hr with benefits such as 401K, PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of related experience.
• Experience with painting, drywall, and general unit make‑ready tasks.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Experience using hand and electric tools.
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina and dexterity.
• Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and a clean driving record meeting insurance standards.

Responsibilities

• Complete all assigned maintenance work orders and prepare vacant resident rooms as directed by the Supervisor.
• Coordinate and assist with special projects as directed.
• Monitor work performed by outside contractors to ensure it meets company standards.
• Be available for 24-hour emergency maintenance service as scheduled, carrying a pager or cell phone for on-call duties.
• Perform cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, and ensuring all areas are tidy and functional.
• Install appliances and equipment as needed.
• Maintain the garden/yard, including mowing lawns and collecting trash.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems like ventilation to ensure they are working properly.
• Check the functionality of safety systems such as fire alarms.
• Drive community vehicles to support resident needs.
• Be an active member of the community’s emergency response team.
