Job summary

Golden West Packaging Group seeks an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to join the Livermore facility on 2nd shift. This full-time, hourly role requires diagnosing, repairing and maintaining plant equipment, ensuring safety, and keeping detailed maintenance records.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience as Industrial Maintenance Technician.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
  • Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Determines when to replace or repair the parts and equipment.
  • Trouble shoots equipment problem.
  • Maintains records of repairs & preventive maintenance.
  • Makes regular daily visual inspections of building, grounds, facilities, equipment, and projects in process or completed.
  • Follows up on and studies recurring facilities oriented failures in an effort to find solutions. Brings all problems that do not have a visible method of immediate solution to the attention of the department supervisor or production manager.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials necessary for the operation of the maintenance department.
  • Initiates immediate communication to supervisor when: a problem has no immediate solution; when an emergency breakdown requires more than four hours to repair; or when two or more machines will be down for four or more hours; when the assistance of engineering staff personnel can expedite the solution to an emergency problem; and when overtime is necessary to maintain the completion date of scheduled work.
  • Participates in fire insurance company inspections and implements approved recommendations.
  • Maintains company safety policy. Identifies workplace hazards which exist or could develop and corrects problems.
  • Complies with EPA and OSHA requirements. Obtains necessary environmental permits to operate equipment that releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and/or produce hazardous waste. Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state and federal environmental rules.
  • Respect and conform to all accepted safe work practices and standards.
  • Initiates action to prevent problems, documents quality problems, contributes solutions to problems, verifies implementation of solutions and controls further processing when a problem is identified.
  • Attends ongoing in-house quality education classes, and perform other duties as requested.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Ability to work well with others as a team.
  • Possess the knowledge to use precision machine devices.
  • Have the ability to draw prints on circuits.
  • Knowledge of C.P.R & first aid.
  • Contributes to problem solving solutions.
QualificationsEducation & Experience Required:

Specialized training in electronics, carpentry, plumbing, air conditioning, heating, and electrical fundamentals. Extensive knowledge of all production processes, activities, equipment, material, and products. Knowledge of general maintenance procedures. Basic computer skills required. 10 plus years experience as an Industrial Maintenance Technician.

Skills & Physical Requirements:

Ability to plan effectively, anticipate problems and head them off, and to handle stressful situations. Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours and lift 50 -80lbs. Ability to climb ladders, catwalks etc. Good math skills with the ability to read a ruler. Able to read and write English. Able to read blueprints and electrical schematics. Ability to work in noisy and harsh conditions. Availability to work long and irregular hours including weekends. Ability to work on all types of equipment.
