Job summary

American Fruits and Flavors, LLC in California is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic III to keep critical operations running. You will maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and improve manufacturing facilities and production systems, training others when time permits.

Qualifications

  • Must have a working knowledge of most maintenance crafts and trades with a strong degree of skill and knowledge in the performance of at least one craft or trade.
  • Must be physically able to perform vigorous, strenuous work, with lifting up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the day.
  • Must have valid Class C California driver’s license, current automobile liability insurance and ability to drive company vehicles.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to perform administrative tasks.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must provide valid telephone number for contact in the event of emergencies after working hours.
  • Must own and furnish, for the purpose of performing duties, a set of hand tools as described in the Maintenance Department Tool List when deemed a requirement.
  • Must report to any company facility according to company need.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for entering work orders for necessary repairs.
  • Responsible for the overall maintenance of production areas and ensuring safety and sanitation.
  • May be called to come into work while off-duty, as emergencies arise.

General Description of Duties

The position performs the duties of maintaining all buildings, structures, and production equipment in top condition and working order, while actively training others when time permits.This position requires proficiency in the principles of production equipment such as, but not limited to, homogenizers, plate and frame pasteurizers, decanters, spray dryers.Other principles including hydraulics, HVAC and Refrigeration, pumps, valves, electrical principles, air compressors, water treatment as well as strong facility maintenance trade principles. These technicians are involved in the day-to-day plant operations, PM work and they participate effectively in troubleshooting production equipment issues with higher-level-skilled personnel.This position requires experienced troubleshooting in all production areas or facilities, Basic practical knowledge on all utilities, Subject matter expert for Production equipment, facility maintenance and Personnel, Trainer for lower level personnel, Fabrication for equipment or facility needs, light welding. The position will require use of lifting equipment and rigging.The position requires understanding of a cmms maintenance program and ability to order materials and supplies as needed.Must exhibit leadership skills when leading a task.Performs repairs or modifications to equipment or buildings as needed.All tasks are performed in accordance with GMP and safety guidelines and procedures. This individual must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in ways that foster good relationships with those inside and outside the company, while achieving performance standards.

Essential Job Functions
  • Plans and performs maintenance work from start to finish with minimal-to-no help from others.
  • Must be physically able to use various carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding and mechanical tools.Some examples include but are not limited to saws, hammers, drills, paint brushes, rollers or sprayers, and power tools such as grinders, sanders, and electric pipe threaders. Must have knowledge of the use of torque wrenches, calipers, dial indicators, electrical meter and other measuring devices.
  • Responsible for all production equipment and support equipment.Equipment should be maintained in good working order, with repairs made as necessary.
  • Submits orders for supplies, materials and equipment as required for maintenance functions.
  • Leads in all technical applications, such as installations of new equipment when delegated the responsibility.
  • Responsible for entering work orders for necessary repairs.
  • Responsible for the overall maintenance of production areas.Ensures all production areas and grounds are maintained in a safe and sanitary condition.
  • Responsible for completing daily time sheets.
  • May be called to come into work while off-duty, as emergencies arise.
  • Helps enforce departmental policies and procedures.Leads by example in these areas.
  • Performs other maintenance duties required or requested by the Maintenance Supervisor arising from a natural or man-made disaster.
  • Must be able to manage work and personal schedules in order to maintain regular, punctual attendance.
