Job description

Join to apply for the Maintenance Technician PRN role at Oceans Healthcare.

Maintenance Technicians are responsible for maintaining heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation systems in the hospital. This includes operating boilers, air-conditioning equipment, diesel engines, turbines, pumps, condensers, generators, and compressors. The technician will start up, regulate, shut down, or repair this equipment, ensuring all systems operate efficiently and safely. Routine maintenance, minor welding, plumbing, and electrical repairs are also part of the role. Ability to work off hours is required.

Essential Functions:
  1. Service and repair heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment, including fans, motors, radiators, thermostats, dampers, and control systems; replace filters and fluids; maintain repair records.
  2. Perform routine manual duties such as moving supplies, furniture, equipment, removing trash, and replacing light bulbs.
  3. Adapt to change positively and handle new requirements and challenges.
  4. Practice good infection control and safety techniques.
  5. Maintain utilities such as generators, smoke purge systems, electronics, and other utilities with support and testing.
  6. Keep a neat and orderly environment.
  7. Meet training and certification requirements.
  8. Ensure security of the physical plant, grounds, and campus buildings.
  9. Implement quality assurance and risk management measures.
  10. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
Educational / Experience:

High School diploma required; maintenance certification preferred.

Qualifications / Skills:

Ability to read, write, and follow instructions; math, computer, reasoning, and language skills preferred. Capable of heavy lifting, climbing ladders, and using hand tools. Training in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or related fields is preferred. Must complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program.

Work Environment:

Subject to interruptions and occasional pressure from calls and inquiries. The role can be high-paced and stressful; must cope mentally and physically. Approximately 90% or more of the time is spent inside a building protected from weather but not temperature changes.
