Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio Inc in South Bloomingville, OH is seeking a Maintenance Technician (Part Time) to care for camp buildings, grounds, and equipment, ensuring a safe, clean and welcoming environment for campers, staff and events.

You will perform a range of maintenance tasks, operate mowing and utility equipment, and assist with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry work, and seasonal duties including pool maintenance, lawn care, and snow removal.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, with 1 year maintenance/grounds experience preferred.
• Must be able to work at least 20 hours per week.
• Familiarity with basic building and grounds maintenance methods and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine upkeep of buildings, utilities, trails, and grounds.
• Operate mowing equipment, weed eaters, augers, and hand tools.
• Transport supplies and materials using appropriate vehicles.
• Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs as needed.
• Maintain wood, concrete, metal, and other surfaces with basic repair skills.
• Support with pool maintenance, lawn care, snow removal as seasonally required.

Maintenance Technician - Part Time

About this position

To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of Camp Oty’Okwa’s buildings, grounds, equipment, and facilities. This position is responsible for helping maintain a safe, clean, functional, and welcoming camp environment by performing routine groundskeeping, building maintenance, repairs, equipment upkeep, and general site-related tasks. The position includes preparing and maintaining facilities and outdoor spaces for campers, staff, programs, events, and other agency activities. Seasonal duties may include pool maintenance, grass cutting, and snow removal.

Core Duties

• Performs and assists employees and on their own in a variety of tasks related to the upkeep of buildings, utilities, trails, and grounds.
• Operates riding and small power mowers, gas powered weed eaters, gas powered hand auger, and grounds hand tools such as rakes, pole pruners, hand pruners, and shovels.
• Operates vehicles to transport supplies, or materials.
• Performs and assists employees and on their own in general maintenance and maintains a variety of landscapes and housing areas.
• Performs and assists employees and on their own in minor plumbing repairs and minor electrical work.
• Performs and assists employees and on their own in maintenance and repairs to items constructed of wood, concrete, metal, timber, stone, and other miscellaneous materials using basic hand and power tools.
• Assists with replacing elements to buildings, residences, and equipment such as boards, siding, faucets, and mower blades.
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education and Experience

High School diploma/GED; one (1) years of general maintenance and grounds keeping experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Ability to work at least 20 hours a week
• Basic principles, equipment, methods and materials used in building and grounds maintenance activities.
• Operation and maintenance of a variety of hand, power and shop tools used in a variety of trade areas.
• Shop mathematics.
• Methods and techniques of planting, transplanting, cultivating, pruning and maintaining a variety of lawns, ground cover, plants, shrubs, hedges and trees.
• Safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work around children
• Basic record keeping practices.
• Communicating effectively in oral and written forms.
• Techniques for techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone.
