Job summary

AdventHealth in DeLand, FL is seeking a versatile facilities maintenance technician to operate and maintain plumbing, HVAC, electrical, locksmith, and alarm systems on site. You will ensure proper storage, cleaning, and disposal of supplies, and maintain paint coatings across interior and exterior surfaces.

You will keep accurate maintenance logs, respond to emergencies, train staff, and contribute to new processes or services while adhering to safety standards and regulations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3+ years of work experience required.
• 2+ healthcare experience preferred.
• Driver's license required.
• Must be able to communicate in English.
• Ability to document records neatly and accurately.
• Ability to generate requisitions for materials and supplies.
• Ability to assign priority and teams in a timely manner.
• Ability to instruct others per blueprints and work from sketches.
• Ability to interpret written, oral, or diagram instructions.
• Ability to read safety rules and maintenance manuals.
• Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
• Ability to calculate proportions, area, and volumes.
• Knowledge of safe handling tools and equipment.
• Basic Microsoft Office computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Stores, cleans, and disposes of supplies per policy.

• Maintains existing paint surfaces and logs; ensures regulatory compliance.
• Responds to emergency calls and follows facility protocols.
• Provides on-the-job skills training to staff.
• Supports development of new processes, products, or services.
• Responds to in-house work orders and preventive maintenance tasks daily.
• Troubleshoots, tests, and repairs mechanical machinery and systems.

Job Description:

Assists in the operation and general maintenance of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, locksmith, and alarm systems. Properly stores, cleans, and disposes of all supplies and equipment used per departmental policies and procedures. Applies protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer, and related materials to interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, furniture, equipment, and other property. Maintains existing paint surfaces by matching and tinting appropriate paint products. Keeps current on maintenance logs and documentation. Other duties as assigned. Maintains complete and accurate records of all maintenance and repairs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards. May be required to respond to emergency calls and take call in accordance with facility protocols. Provides on-the-job skills training to staff. Supports and contributes to the development of new processes, products, or services. Responds to in-house work orders and preventive maintenance tasks on a daily basis in a timely manner. Troubleshoots, tests, and repairs mechanical machinery, equipment, systems, and physical structures as scheduled or needed under limited guidance.

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volumes [Required]
• Knowledge of safe handling tools and equipment [Required]
• Basic Microsoft office computer skills [Required]
