Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. is seeking a skilled maintenance technician in Michigan to perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment installations. You will assist operators, document repairs, and uphold DFA safety and GMP standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, 2-year mechanical/electrical training, and proficiency with welding, pneumatics, and motor controls. Strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of formal mechanical/electrical education certificate or equivalent experience.
• Able to perform electrical work including diagnosing motor control problems.
• Knowledge of pneumatics, solenoid valves, and air cylinders.
• Must use standard maintenance tools safely.
• Ability to plan and install minor projects (non-sanitary piping, drain lines, etc.).
• Ability to perform routine repairs and maintenance on pumps, boilers, HVAC, VFDs, and valves.
• Ability to read and follow schematics and process controls.
• Basic welding (tig/stick) skills.
• Ability to assist other mechanics.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must pass written maintenance test.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must read/write/speak English.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs of production and processing equipment and related utilities.
• Support installation of new equipment.
• Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Ensure repairs are documented.
• Foster teamwork aligned with DFA mission and core values.
• Adhere to safety policies and GMP and food safety standards.
• Maintain safe working conditions and comply with regulations.
• Commit to safety and ensure employees leave as they arrived.
• Demonstrate DFA values in honesty, discretion, and judgement.
• Adhere to DFA Quality, Safety, GMP policies and report nonconformities.
• Attend required training including Safety, GMP, HACCP, SQF.
• Other duties as required.
