Job summary

Lion Elastomers LLC in Port Neches, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician/Mechanic to install, maintain, upgrade, and repair machinery in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and design plans.

You will work with the Maintenance Supervisor and Engineers to keep presses, pumps, gearboxes, and conveyors running, while maintaining strict safety and environmental standards. Overtime and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; NCCER certification is a plus.
• 3+ years in an industrial environment with process manufacturing knowledge.
• Knowledge of plant safety rules and environmental standards.
• Willingness to work overtime and holidays as required.
• Capable of working in confined spaces and at heights.

Maintenance Technician/Mechanic

POSITION PURPOSE:

Maintenance Technician’s primary responsibility is to install, maintain, upgrade, and repair machinery in accordance with the manufacture recommendations and design plans. Individuals in this position strive to accomplish precision repairs and maintain machinery to best condition.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Engineers toaccomplish the goals and objectives of the department.
• Required to remove, disassemble and install machinery and equipment such as presses, pumps, balers, agitators, gear boxes, motors, roller conveyors, vibrating conveyors using hoists, pulleys, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
• Align machines and equipment, using laser alignment equipment, hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, plumb bobs.
• Assemble and install equipment using hand tools and power tools.
• Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill.
• Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts. Level bedplate and establish centerline, using straightedge, levels, and transit.
• Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools, pneumatic, electric and hydraulic power tools.
• Troubleshoots and repair pumps, turbines, compressors and gearboxes per manufacture recommendations.
• Coordinates assigned work with other craft groups and the production department as needed.
• Complies with all plant safety rules and reports all incidents and events to immediate supervision for corrective action.
• Attends all departmental safety meetings and actively supports & participates in safety programs and implementations.
• Complies with allLion Elastomers'plant policies, procedures & practices applicable to the Maintenance Department.
• Participates in various company and regulatory training designed to improve plant processes and/or increase unit production.
• Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High School Diploma, Some College, Technical School or NCCER (or equivalent) certification a Plus.

Related Experience: 3 Years Minimum in an industrial environment with related on-the-job experience in a related discipline, Prior experience must include being knowledgeable in process manufacturing, plant safety rules & regulations, Process Safety Management (PSM), environmental compliance standards, and site quality processes.

The incumbent must possess a high level of mechanical aptitude, be an effective communicator, possess basic computer competencies, and be capable & willing to work overtime and holidays, as may be required. The individual must also have the ability to work in confined spaces and from elevated areas within the plant. In addition, this individual must be able to think clearly and solve multifaceted problems in the field with personnel of various degrees of skill levels, education and training.
