Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Maintenance Technician to sustain production equipment and facilities. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues, and assisting with installations and repairs to minimize downtime.

You will perform inspections, replace worn components, maintain records, and follow safety policies including Lockout/Tagout. Strong teamwork and problem solving are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in maintenance and repair of industrial equipment in manufacturing preferred.
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to safely use hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, presses, cordless drills, clamps and other small tools.
  • Willing to learn to use measuring equipment to 0.001” accuracy (digital and dial indicators, calipers, micrometers).
  • Familiarity with related hand tools and troubleshooting equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues to identify root causes and assist in repairs.
  • Assist with installation, modification, and relocation of equipment and machinery.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential equipment failures or safety concerns.
  • Replace worn or defective components (motors, bearings, belts, sensors, switches, etc.).
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance software as required.
  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics, equipment manuals, work orders, and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and repair documentation.
  • Adhere to safety policies including LOTO and machine guarding.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and installing equipment, machinery, and facility systems. This position supports the safe and efficient operation of production equipment and plant facilities by performing preventive maintenance, basic repairs, and assisting with more complex maintenance projects.


The Maintenance Technician performs routine inspections, identifies equipment issues, and assists in diagnosing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical problems. This role requires the ability to troubleshoot equipment failures, follow maintenance procedures, and work collaboratively with production and maintenance team members to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency.



Key Responsibilities


  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and facility systems.

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical issues to identify root causes and assist in repairs.

  • Assist with installation, modification, and relocation of equipment and machinery.

  • Conduct routine inspections to identify potential equipment failures or safety concerns.

  • Replace worn or defective components, including motors, bearings, belts, chains, sensors, switches, and related parts.

  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance software as required.

  • Read and interpret basic electrical schematics, equipment manuals, work orders, and maintenance procedures.

  • Understand fundamental electrical concepts such as voltage, current, resistance, circuits, relays, contactors, sensors, overloads, and motor controls.

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and repair documentation.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, equipment reliability efforts, and special projects.

  • Adhere to all safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and electrical safety procedures.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas and assist with housekeeping throughout the facility.

  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements as they pertain to daily activities

  • Practices safety awareness in all actions, including machine operation and lock-out/tag-out procedures for all responsibilities

  • Shares information with the supervisor and other team members in a manner that is understandable

  • Possesses strong troubleshooting skills

  • General knowledge of tools both hand tools and power tools

  • Ability to provide personal tools as required

  • Must be able to read and understand basic machine schematics with little guidance

  • Highly organized with an emphasis on detail

  • Organize parts and materials in the proper locations

  • Lift, move, push, pull, carry and manipulate large and small materials weighing up to 20lbs frequently and up to 50lbs unaccompanied

  • Ability to work with other departments to ensure overall success

  • Work effectively as a team player by communicating with supervisors, production personnel, and fellow maintenance technicians to resolve issues and support plant operations.

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to ongoing skills development.

  • Other duties as assigned



Qualifications


  • High School graduate or GED required

  • 1-2 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment is desirable

  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license

  • Must have the ability to use the following equipment in a safe and effective manner: hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, presses, cordless drills, clamps, and other misc small tools

  • Willing to learn how to properly use a variety of measuring equipment to a high level of accuracy of 0.001” to diagnose wear or damage in machine parts; such as digital and dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, levels, angle and depth gages, etc

  • Familiarity with related hand tools and troubleshooting equipment
