Position Summary
Senior-level position responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical failures, and ensuring that all machinery operates efficiently. This role involves advanced troubleshooting, leadership responsibilities, and oversight of critical maintenance tasks. A deep understanding of mechanical systems, machinery, automation and safety protocols is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance team in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Perform high-level repairs and major overhauls of equipment, including gearboxes, pumps, motors, and machinery critical to production
- Analyze equipment failure trends and work with the team to identify long‑term solutions to recurring problems
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to increase machinery uptime and extend equipment life
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior mechanics and assist in skill development
- Assist with the planning and execution of plant shutdowns, overhauls, and equipment installations
- Review and approve maintenance schedules, work orders, and parts requisitions
- Monitor equipment performance and suggest improvements or upgrades to machinery and systems
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment at all times
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Perform software updates and configure new/replacement electrical devices
Education / Experience
- High school diploma or GED (Advanced certifications, technical school, or associate degree in mechanical engineering preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance or mechanical systems, with a focus on troubleshooting and repair
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and machinery
- Experience in leading a team and mentoring junior mechanics
- Strong problem‑solving and diagnostic skills with the ability to handle complex machinery failures
- Experience with preventive maintenance planning, asset management, and inventory control
- Familiarity with electrical and control systems (PLC troubleshooting, motor controls, etc.)
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical/mechanical drawings
- Strong communication skills
Candidates must be willing and able to work
- In an industrial environment where there will be exposure to elevated high heat and humidity, fiberglass dust, and hazardous chemicals
- In a safety‑sensitive, demanding, detail‑oriented, deadline‑driven environment that requires simultaneous handling of multiple priorities
- Independently and as a member of a team
- May be required to work up to a 12‑hour shift
Candidates must be capable of safely and efficiently performing the following tasks
- Work from verbal and/or written work instructions
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs
- Frequent use of manual, electric, and pneumatic hand tools
- Frequent standing, sitting, bending, kneeling, squatting, ladder and stair climbing and occasional crawling, twisting, and lying
- Frequent reaching and repetitive manipulation of hands for simple grasping, pushing, and pulling
- Wearing of personal protective equipment including safety glasses, gloves, protective garments, and respirators
