Job summary

State of North Carolina's Adult Correction Division seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician III at Anson Correctional Institution. The role covers preventive and routine maintenance across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and security systems, emphasizing safety and efficiency.

You will operate at two journey levels, supervise offenders, read blueprints and building codes, and complete reports. This full-time position is Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with possible overtime to meet business needs.

Qualifications

• High School or GED diploma and two years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas.
• EPA certification may be required for certain duties.
• Documented working knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance.
• Ability to read blueprints and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and routine maintenance on generators, gates, plumbing, electrical, and security doors.
• Prepare preventive maintenance reports and maintain repair parts inventory.
• Function at two journey levels: mechanical/plumbing and HVAC/refrigeration.
• Supervise semi-skilled and unskilled labor, including offenders.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Perform heavy physical tasks for extended periods.
• Read and interpret sketches or drawings.
• Read and interpret building codes and blueprints.
