Job summary

AbbVie in Texas is seeking a Mechanical Equipment Technician to perform scheduled and demand maintenance, troubleshoot, repair, and improve process and facility equipment, delivering 24/7 maintenance support to keep manufacturing running smoothly. The role requires 4+ years in facility maintenance with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, welding, and machining experience.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility maintenance, with experience in maintenance of chemical process equipment desirable.
  • Associates degree in skilled trades curriculum desirable.
  • Combination of education and experience.
  • Problem solving, troubleshooting, and repair skills for a wide variety of systems and equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic, reactors, control valves, pumps, etc.
  • Welding, pipefitting, construction, basic electrical knowledge, and machining skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with Maintenance Department objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with operators, engineers, contractors, and vendor representatives.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency maintenance requests on off-shifts

Responsibilities

  • Performs or arranges for preventive and demand maintenance on a wide variety of equipment, including structural, HVAC, plumbing, and process equipment.
  • Supports reliability-centered maintenance program(s) at the site by performing or coordinating completion of predictive maintenance activities such as equipment vibration analysis, oil/lubricant analysis, ultrasonic thickness or other non-destructive testing, infrared heat mapping, etc.
  • Conducts and documents activities in a manner that maintains facility compliance with GMP, PSM, and other applicable regulations.
  • Provides maintenance expertise in support of manufacturing investigations, failure and root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action planning and execution.
  • Provides maintenance expertise in support of plant engineering initiatives and project execution.
  • Strictly follows all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) procedures and supports efforts to improve facility EHS performance.
  • Attends all required training and complies with the responsibilities associated with the maintenance technician position as detailed in the applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conducts maintenance-related training sessions as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Description
We currently have the following night work shifts :
  • A2 - Sunday to Tuesday5:30 pm to 6 am and every other Saturday
  • B2 - Wednesday to Friday 5:30 pm to 6 am and every other Saturday

The primary job functions of the Mechanical Equipment Technician are to act as the equipment maintenance technician for the completion of scheduled and demand preventive/predictive equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and improvement of process and facility equipment, and to deliver 24 hour / 7 days a week maintenance support to the facility. The Mechanical Equipment Technician will also provide technical support in the design, installation, and qualification of new or modified process or facility equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Performs or arranges for preventive and demand maintenance on a wide variety of equipment, including structural, HVAC, plumbing, and process equipment.
